Question : I just asked you a question about my cat Elliot. I rescued her an her brother when they were 4 – 5 weeks old from a local animal hospital. From an early age Elliot has suckled on my earlobe when she is sleepy. Its adorable and obviously because she was not weaned properly. I asked vets and friends at the time and they said she would grow out of it. She is 7 months now and demands a suckle before she sleeps. I have no issue with it. Should I wean her off the ear lobe for her own sanity? Her brother is quite independant and doesn’t come to me for much affection.
Answer :
Hello again,
May God bless you for rescuing them!
Many cats do this when they were taken from mom too young.
It is harmless. It only means Elliot has totally bonded with you and considers you her mommy now.
I promise you it will NOT hurt her “sanity”. It is analogous to a baby using a pacifier or security blanket.
So as long as you dont mind I would just let her do it and be happy.
